Para sa isang Chef, masasabi sigurong natupad na ang iyong
pangarap kung ikaw ay magkakaroon ng sarili mong restaurant o di naman kaya ay
makapag trabaho sa isang kilalang restaurant o kilalang tao sa lipunan.
At paano kung ang iyong employer ay hindi lang kilala sa
isang bansa kundi isang kilalang aktres sa buong mundo?

Isang Pilipina ang naging personal na Chef ni Drew
Barrymore, isang beteranang Hollywood star na naging close friend na din ng Pinay
Chef na si Pilar Valdes.
Abot-abot umano ang papuri ni Drew kay Pilar na ayon sa ulat
ng PEP ay “self-taught” chef na naka base sa New York City sa United States.
Bukod sa pagiging isang close friend at personal chef ni
Pilar kay Drew, naging regular guest din daw ito sa talk show ng Hollywood star
na The Drew Barrymore Show.
Hindi lang iyan, si Pilar ay contributor din sa cookbook ni
Drew na Rebel Homemaker.
At sa mga recent episodes ng kanyang talk show ay palaging
bukambibig ng aktres ang kanyang kaibigang chef at kung gaano sila nito ka-close.
Nang unang naging guest si Pilar sa talk show ni Drew ay pinakilala
siya nitong bilang “very special to me” na tao sa kanya.
“incredibly talented chef and we’ve been side by side now
for about three years, and she’s also my dear friend.” Ayon pa daw sa aktres
Pag babahagi pa ni Drew, lagi niya umanong kasama si Pilar
sa kusina at ito ang kanyang takbuhan pagdating sa kanyang healthy diet para
maalagaan ang kanyang figure.*
“Someone that I’m always in the kitchen with, Pilar and I
bonded early on wanting to make food, because I’m a pendulum… heavier, lighter,
heavier, lighter. No pretty little middle.
“And to be lighter, I had to do that chicken-and-broccoli
thing, and I don’t think that that’s sustainable for happiness.
“And so, when I really would go off the rails, I would do
dishes that weren’t chicken and broccoli," kwento pa ng Hollywood star
Kasama niya si Pilar sa pag luluto sa kusina para makagawa
ng pagkaing swak sa kanyang panlasa habang pinanatili na healthy ang kanyang
diet.

Sa isang episode ng kanyang talk show noong January 12,
2021, sinabi ni halos araw-araw niyang kasama ang kaibigan.
“Pilar and I literally spend almost every day together, and
we love food, and we love laughter, and we love travelling the globe.
“We’re very into the flavor, the study.” Ayon pa sa aktres
“You’re self-taught, I’m self-made. Because it proves you
don’t have to have a degree.
“You don’t have to have had a certain economic or
cookie-cutter journey. You can find yourself wherever you are in the world.
“You’re in Manila, I was here, and here we are together.” Saad

Noong April 21, 2021 naman ay naging guest muli ni Drew si
Pilar sa kanyang show kung saan kanya ring ini-launch ang kanyang cookbook na
Rebel Homemaker kung saan nga ay contributor ang kaibigang si Pilar.
Memorable daw ang pagkaka-kilala nilang dalawa ayon kay
Drew.
“I met you at a point in my life when I was living in a
rental apartment.” Ang sabi ni Drew kay Pilar
“I was moving from Los Angeles to New York.
“I was looking to start a new endeavor so that I can be home
with my kids.*
“I was like, ‘I’ll start a company. I’ll write a book. I’ll
do anything,’ like how can I be a mom first?
“And my life felt like very unanchored, and there was a lot
of transitions, and I met you at that time.
“And we ended up dreaming and finding an anchor together,
and you, and food, and our friendship was a huge saving grace for me.
“And something that I can hook into when my life felt so
floating.
“And here we are three years later. And I feel like our
lives are so anchored, individually and together.”
At para naman kay Pilar, ang pagtatagpo nila ng sikat na
aktres ay “serendipity and a whole lot of luck.”
Base sa kanyang LinkedIn account, si Pilar ay graduate mula
sa University of the Philippines noong 2000 at may Bachelor’s Degree in
Cinematography and Film/Video Production.
Siya ay nagtapos din sa kursong Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal
Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities, mula sa Sarah Lawrence
College naman sa Bronxville, New York.
