As a digital marketer and content creator, I fully understand the concept of "trend jacking". Pero napakawalang taste when you try to take advantage of someone's untimely passing.
To those who created YT videos about Lloyd pero clickbait lang ang title at gusto niyo lang ng views, to insurance companies and agents posting about various types of offers related to Lloyd's house, to "fitness" experts and "weight loss" experts hawking their products to avoid "cardiac arrest", nakakahiya kayo.
Shame on you. Shame on you. Shame on you. Tagalog para din malinaw: nakakahiya kayo.
Sorry, bihira lang ako maging nega pero this was just something that made me want to vomit. It's clout and money chasing on a whole new shameless level.
I'm a fan of Lloyd. My wife and I watch his videos almost everyday. Sobrang good vibes and tamang feels lang to fight away the anxiety and depression brought about by the pandemic. He was helping me (and I'm sure millions others) cope with the situation. Kaya I just felt an urge to speak out against those in my "profession" who are taking advantage of the situation in a tasteless manner. Shame on you. Shame on you. Shame on you.
Btw I am posting this not to just rant. I am posting this because I want this practice to stop here and now. I want people who are doing it to know that it is tasteless and wrong. I want to make a strong statement so hopefully in the future we will see less of this crap.
EDIT (good point from discussion with Mike in comments): You want to use someone's story, image, and likeness (who passed away) to sell your products or brand? Get permission from the family. Get their approval. That's the least you can do.
