On Friday, November 29, 2019, Abdul Kader, Director General of International Sepaktakraw Federation, said in a press conference that Subic Gymnasium was actually one of the best venues for Sepak Takraw in the history of Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
Kader, a high ranking official of the international governing body of sepak takraw, said he was pleased with preparations at the sport’s venue in the Philippines.

Sepak takraw, or kick volleyball, is a sport native to Southeast Asia. It differs from the similar sport of footvolley in its use of a rattan ball and only allowing players to use their feet, knee, chest and head to touch the ball.
This sport is said to be played in Subic Gymnasium from Dec. 1- 10 as part of the 2019 SEA Games.
The said Subic Gymnasium has been restored for this biennial multi-sport event, and allegedly was spent about 5.7 million for the gym’s new façade and interior upgrade.
Kader said he was confident that the Philippines’ facilitating of the 30th edition of the SEA Games will be successful and guarantees the country and it's event's organizing committee that sepak takraw will push through without any interruption whatsoever.
“I promise to the Philippine government and Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee that sepak takraw will go without any disruption,” Kader said.
