Honesty payment method is seldom used here in the Philippines. The most common use for this method is for the jeepney transportation. With a lot of passengers riding and going down, it becomes easy to score a free ride and not pay anything at all.
123 Free rides
A jeepney driver recently went viral when a student posted a photo of him along with a heartwarming story. Christopher Jhon Salve Barda shared that the jeepney driver in the photo is one of the most jolly and nice drivers he knows.
The story starts with the driver asking all the passengers for their payments. There were 26 passengers who were supposed to pay P16 each, but the driver only had 260. This means that around 10 people did not pay.
Asking for payment
At first, according to Barda, the driver was telling jokes and asking for the passengers to pay for their required fare. As the trip went farther, the driver already asked the passengers for their fare for several times.
He asked several times until at last he got tired. The passengers got shocked when the driver cried. He told the passengers how he is working properly and that he needs to earn money for his kids. He also reminded the passengers that he wishes that this is the last time that they do this.
Reminder
The post aims to remind passengers, especially students, to be more considerate when it comes to paying their fare. The drivers also have their own needs and they are working hard to earn what little they earn.
Some of the drivers even have boundaries to pay so the money that they earn do not go directly to them.
