The Iloilo-Guimaras-Negros-Cebu Link Bridge dubbed the “The most ambitious bridge program of our nation” by Department of Public Works Secretary Mark Villar is said to be completed within the term of President Rodrigo Duterte.

The bridge’s construction and eight other infrastructure projects would start next year as per say in the press conference of Villar together with National Economic and Development Authority Director General Ernesto Pernia, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, and Bases Conversion and the Development Authority President and Chief Executive Officer Vivencio Dizon.

Villar said that the length of the bridges connecting the Iloilo, Guimaras, Negros and Cebu would range from two to ten kilometers and would soon overtake San Juanico Bridge’s record as the longest bridge in the country.

Once finished, you’ll be able to take a road trip to Iloilo and Cebu,” said Villar.

Pernia on the other hand stated that this bridge and all other projects are now going through the state of bidding, thus, jobs will be created once construction begins.

He also stated that the “work regimen of 24 hours a day seven days a week” would be maintained to ensure the minimum amount of time needed for the construction of these projects.

Tugade on the other hand emphasized the importance of infrastructure.

Infrastructure means connectivity and mobility, connectivity among local government units and mobility to go to one place to another,” he said.

But Pernia warns us about the inconvenience cause by such construction.

Before the country can rise up and be world-class, there will be some inconvenience. If there is construction going on, it can cause inconvenience,” Pernia said.

"Infrastructure means connectivity and mobility, connectivity among local government units and mobility to go to one place to another,” he added.
