- A Filipino kid is making his name in online world
- Young powerlifter is a proud 7-year-old Fil-Am boy
- He attributes his extraordinary strength to “lumpia”
At the age of 7, a Fil-Am boy is creating a buzz and becoming an online sensation for “pumping iron”.
While kids his age are busy playing, Jordan Mica is busy lifting heavy weights at such a young age.
His supportive father, Jason Mica, who is also a powerlifter, admitted that he's the one that helped his son in pursuing the sport since he was just 2 years old.
“One thing that I always did was just leave a bar out here for him to play around with. And we have videos on his Instagram where he literally just picks it up and starts playing with it.” the young powerlifter's dad said.
“And I think it’s natural for youngsters to want to do what they see their parents doing and things like that. So it just progressed into lifting,” he added.
Though lifting is challenging, Jason claimed the sport is safe for young children as long as it comes with proper guidance.
Jordan’s interest for powerlifting got him to taking the sport to the next level since he now joins competitions, saying he likes to push himself to the limit to see how far he can go.
“It’s fun going to competitions because you get to meet new people. And you also get to try out how heavy you actually can go, like try. How heavy you’ve actually ever gone and go over your max.” the Fil-Am kid said.
In addition, Jordan seemed to be having the time of his life meeting new friends in his “Lumpia and Deadlifts Team.”
He said its his favorite pinoy food “lumpia” that gives him extraordinary strength, adding that he can’t get enough of them “because it has meat and veggies.”
