Malacañang aired its stance on the proposal made by San Miguel's Ramon Ang.
Recently, Ramon Ang of San Miguel Corporation expressed his intent to fund the structure that's
poised to solve the worsening traffic in Metro Manila, particularly in EDSA.
Dubbed as “elevated EDSA”, the Ang-led proposal promises to give remedy to the struggle of daily motorists by linking Macapagal Avenue in Pasay City and Balintawak in Quezon City. Plus, it will also feature lanes that will be dedicated for a bus rapid transit system.
Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo even commended the elevated expressway and called it a “beautiful proposal”.
Saying that it's good to go, the latter said: “Tuloy yun”
“Have you read about Ramon Ang’s (president and chief operating officer of SMC) proposal? Yung elevated. I was talking to him last night, ang ganda ng proposal niya. Tuloy yun. Tinanong ko siya how much is that? ‘US$3 billion’, sabi niya. In less than two years gawa yan,” the Presidential Spokesperson said.
Panelo likewise noted that the business tycoon is already in talks with the transportation Chief Arthur Tugade about the matter.
“I know it’s a proposal but it’s a beautiful proposal. I understand (Ang) was talking with (Transportation) Secretary (Arthur) Tugade and Secretary Tugade is welcoming such an idea,” the spokesperson said.
