This morning, December 17, was greeted by a good news that Catriona brought home the crown. Which is not impossible with the way she slew all the preliminary segments, and even became viral for her slow-mo walk.
Symbolism
Starting from the showcase videos and all her costumes, the public was amazed how Catriona gave the effort to have everything that she does and wear symbolize a part of the country.
She even made sure she got the hand gestures of our ancient tribe symbolizing "hello" during her costume portion. Her suit is inspired from Mindanao, her accessories from the Visayas, and her lantern from Luzon.
Her evening gown during the prelims is inspired by Ibong Adarna, while her Coronation Night Fiery gown is based on the Philippines' own Mayon Volcano.
Philippine Flag
But not only that. Hold on to your seat as the Mayon Volcano gown is not only successful in symbolizing our highest volcano, it has completed the color of the Philippine flag. Now that Catriona joined our three reigning Miss Universes since Gloria Diaz in 1969, Margarita Moran three years after in 1973, Pia Wurtzbach in 2015, and again, three years after came Catriona Gray.
The gowns of the four beauty queens completed the colors of the Philippine flag, Yellow, White, Blue, and finally Red.
