Didn’t really know that there is a proper way to drink coffee
and that it could actually help you lose weight.
The main reason why people drink coffee is to stay energized,
but not to boost metabolism.
Stumbled upon this very interesting article from POPSUGAR
Inc. stating that caffeine can increase our resting metabolic rate (refers to
the number of calories a body can burn while at rest) by three to eleven
percent.
“The higher your rate, the easier it is for you to lose weight
and keep it off” the article says.
There was even a study published by PubMed stating that
caffeine can boost the fat-burning capabilities in lean women by 29 percent.
However, though it is indeed a good find, adding more cream
and sugar is still a no go.
It has always been said that taking plain and black coffee has
more benefits than overdoing it with a lot sugary add-on such as creamers.
And although it is beneficial, consuming too much coffee could
also cost you: jitteriness, gastrointestinal upset, accelerated heart rate,
nausea, anxiety, and insomnia. Insomnia can especially counter
metabolism-boosting benefits, as lack of sleep can increase your appetite and
cause weight gain.
Balance is the key. It would be best to stop yourself from
drinking coffee by the early afternoon to avoid restless nights.
Ideally, it is best to drink your coffee straight and limit
it at up to three cups in a day.
